Star Shaped Lake:
The Kodaikanal lake is a man made which is the most attraction in the hill station. This lake is situated right in the center of Kodaikanal. The former Collector Sir Vere Levinge converted a marshy land to lake.
This lake provides facilities for boating and it is star shaped which covers an area of nearly 60 acres. The Kodaikanal lake is surrounded by different types of trees and you can also take a horse ride by the sides of the lake.
The observatory in Kodaikanal is almost 75 years old and is one of the only three solar observations in the world. This observatory is located at a distance of 3 kms from the lake and at an altitude of 2343 m and is at the highest point of this hill station. You can view a show that is played in this observatory which will give you a glimpse of solar system.
Fairy falls is an interesting spot for picnics. The crystal clear water is famous for tourists. You can surely gain refreshed and re-energized by swimming at the foot of the falls.
The Coaker’s walk is situated on the Southern end of Kodaikanal and is about 1km from the lake. The Coaker’s walk is an extra ordinary place to get some of the most fascinating views of the surrounding areas.
Kurinji Andavar Temple
Kurinji andavar temple is located about 3kms away from the star shaped lake. The main deity worshipped here is Lord Murugan. This temple is located at a calm place and gives you beautiful views of Northern plains and Palani hills.
