JOG falls:

Jog falls is approximately about  400kms from Bangalore, and is one of the highest  waterfalls in India and is  Located in Shimoga District of Karnataka.

Jog is the place where river Sharavati falls from an unbelievable 300 meters high and the unique aspect about this water falls is  it drops directly and does not stream on to rocks.

You can take bus or train to nearest town – Sagar and travel on local buses to Jog.

By hiring a car:

If you are driving, take the Tumkur road (NH 4) from Bangalore, turn left to NH 206 in Tumkur and drive via Shimoga and Sagar towns. After reaching  Sagar town you need to go another 30kms on the highway.

Ranganthitu Bird Sanctuary and Balmuri Falls

Ranganthitu Bird Sanctuary is an excellent picnic and is about 130 kms away from Bangalore. You can watch different types of birds flying freely without restricting them in cages. You can enjoy this place if you visit early in the morning or evening and also Ranger-guided boat tours of the isles are available throughout the day, and are a good way to watch birds.

Balmuri Falls is the primary attraction at the Ranganthittu Sanctuary. A small checkdam constructed here across Kaveri has made this an excellent picnic more fabulous.

Shivanasamudra

Shivanasamudra  is a small town in the Mandya District in the  state of Karnataka, India. It is situated on the banks of the river Kaveri and this location is known to be the place for first Hydro-electric Power station in Asia, which was set up in the year 1902.

Best time to visit this place:

The time of best flow are the monsoon season of July to October and hence this will be the best time to visit this place.

Here  the river Kaveri falls into a valley in two separate places called Gaganachukki and Bharachukki and re-unites downstream. This will be the beautiful picnic spot.

By bus:

bus transportation facility is available. You can travel through bus for reaching this place from banglore. Both Government and as well as private buses are available.

By hiring a car:

Shivanasamudra can be reached either through  Bangalore – Mysore road or Kanakapura road.

From Mysore:

If you want to reach  this place through  Mysore road, you need to turn left at Maddur and drive through some distance.

From Kanakapura Road:

If you are taking the Kanakapura road, you need to drive for around 120 kms on the highway. Shivanasamudra is very close to the highway.

Nandi hills

It is about  50km drive from Bangalore and is best place to enjoy foggy mornings and this is the right place for refreshment. You can enjoy the cold breeze after reaching this place and a blue sky. Nandi Betta is a hill 1200m above sea level.
