Majestic Nallamala hills,stunning waterfalls and lush greenery adds beauty to Kurnool district.The forts and temples speak of the city’s historic importance and rich culture. Tunga and Bhadra are two main rivers. Tunga Bhadra dam is constructed near Hospet. Kurnool tourism is about ancient architecture and historical monuments constructed during Vijayanagar Empire and Hindu kings.The flood wall that was constructed to protect the city from the rising river waters is one of the important tourist spot in Kurnool.

1. Nallamala Hills and Srisailam
Nallamala forest is main attraction with tiger reserve. Sikhareswaram is the highest peak with 2835 ft height. We started our tour from Nandyal,as we already visited Srisailam
2. Banaganapalli, Nela Matam (Sri Pothuluri VeeraBrahmendraswamy temple):
Day-1 Kurnool Trip
From Hyderabad we started on one weekend to Nandyal. Next day morning Nandyal to Banaganapalli(40Km),On the way visited Sri Chowdeswari temple,Nandavaram.Visited Banaganapalli (Anandasramam)Ravallakonda cave,temple where BrahmamGaru Wrote Kalagnanam,Nela Matam(Prathama Peetam)Shiva temple.
Banaganapalli to Belum caves 35Km.Belum Caves,running a length of 3,229 metres, are the second longest caves in India and are popular for their stalactite and stalagmite formations.The caves descend to 150 feet from the entrance level and this point is referred to as Pataalaganga.Musical chamber, meditation hall,simhadwaram&shivalingam are interesting here.Giant Buddha statue located just outside the caves is beautiful.
Sri Yaganti Uma Maheswara Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva,Goddess Parvati&Nandi Bull(according to Kalagnanam this Nandi increasing every day.In the temple there is Pushkarini(pond)water flows into the pond from Nandi’s mouth throughout the year.The temple architecture is also worth visiting,It showcases the skills of Viswakarma Sthapathis.Agastheswara, Venkateswara caves are famous shown in many telugu movies.Next to Ahobilam(70km).
Ahobilam is one of 108 Vaishnava Divyadesams in India. It consits of two temples, lower and upper Ahobilam. Lord Narasimha, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, blessed Prahlada and slayed Hiranyakashyapa here. Temple has beautiful seasonal waterfall and many steps to go up after parking. After visiting upper and lower Ahobilam, we reached Mahanandi by night. We had darshan of Lord Mahadandeswara and srichakra Archana at night.
Day-2 Kurnool Trip:
Around Mahanandi there are 9Nandeswara shrines.Mahanandi is one of the 9shrines.MahanandeswaraSwamy(Lord Shiva)Temple is of 1,500 years old.The shivalinga is unique because it’s formed by a rough,uncut rock containing 2cavities.we can do Abhishekam to shivalinga.Huge Nandi infront of the main shrine is big attraction.Clear water coming from Nandi’s mouth throughout the year form pond in the temple.
Early morning we took holi bath(Karthika snanam)in pond.Next moved to
Jogulamba temple(100km)5th Shaktipeetam.On the way visited few temples of NavaNandi Shrines.
